A rendezvous....

...with Kids.

This Sunday happened to be a really jolly day. Spending time with kids always gives us sheer happiness taking us back to our own sweet childhood days. So was this Sunday for me. We got an opportunity to take some kids of a tamil medium govt school in a village called Kovur, a 38 of them, out for an educational trip (it turned out to be a full fun-trip for them, for all of us actually!). Thanks to Divya for the amazing opportunity. Divya teaches for 17 of those kids (of diff age groups) every Saturday. Teach India is an organization moderated by Times of India. She’s registered with the organization and Kovur was allocated for her. MACT is the NGO responsible for that village that takes care of all the needs of those kids. Divya had planned to take them to the Planetarium and made arrangements with the help of this organization MACT. They helped arrange the van and the snacks for the kids. Thanks to Aish n Nachi for inviting me to be a part of it. At 1 in the afternoon I joined the group in the van at Nandambakam to be greeted by those kids with smiling faces. They started screaming ‘good morning ma’am’ n ‘ hi ma’am ’in excitement. Ha ha I was excited too! Got introduced to them and learnt a few names of the mischievous lot. We picked up Sowmya on the way and reached Planetarium by 2. Got the tickets for the 3.45 show there and took the kids to the sci-park there. They were all so excited and played happily. We were absolutely elated in turn, watching them play around happily! We watched a 10 minute 3D video then which made me scream along with the kids esp when the serpent came towards me! God, that was really frightening. At 3.45, the show began. The ambience of that place and the projector at the centre of the room and the hemispherical screen everything made them excited all over again. They were fascinated and were attentive for almost 10 minutes when the basics about the solar system and the planets were stated. Later they couldn’t understand much of what was being said and almost every1 of us felt sleepy!;)

It was almost 5 by the time the show got over and we distributed them their snacks and chocolates, so it was decided to take them back to their place. But the kids insisted on staying and visiting the children’s park or some other place. There wasn’t much time left so we just took them to the Gandhi mandapam that was nearby and clicked pics with them there. The fall of dusk reminded us that it was time to bid goodbye to them. End of the day there was a genuine smile on everybody’s face and you know what magical impact any kid’s smile can bestow on us. Though minding the children and heeding to their needs seemed to be a strenuous exercise but then it was all fun and the contentment and gratification we felt end of the day is just indescribable! And thanks to those amazing kids for they just made my day!:)

Those memories...

Saturday night my sis left to kodaikanal. School tour. I miss her. Our house seems to be noticeably silent. No mess or fuss here. Especially during nights I miss my roommate. We (me n sis) usually lay there in the bed staring at the stars on the ceiling, prattling late in the night and then the fighting for the ipod, arguing about which song should be played next. Last 2 nights I had to sleep alone with nobody to bicker on some crap. I just lay there reading a book till 1.30 or so last night until my eyes started burning. I just fell asleep then.

And Saturday we went to the station to send her off. I met few of my school teachers there. Most of teachers now in school are new. So I dint know many of them. The train left egmore at 9.15 p.m and there were goodbyes to parents and relatives from the students. It’s just a 3 day trip yet I could find some of them fighting back their tears (both the kids and their parents). So were my sis and mom. Parents worried about their child’s safety. Throwing all their advices to their kid. Dad had a couple of them for ma sis too. That was funny. Don’t go near the door when the train is moving fast. Don’t go anywhere without informing your teachers. Don’t loiter around without your comrades’ company and all that. The coupe in which sis had her seat was all fuss. Students moving in and out, screaming at the top of their voice, discussing who’s going to sit with whom, carrying their bags from one seat to another. Lot of confusion prevailed. But still there was fun-filled around that place. It’s their 1^st tour with their classmates so they were all anxious, I could see. When the train started to move we waved to her, told her to take care and be careful, to call as soon as they boarded their rooms n Kodai and settled. The girls started screaming and shouting with all their joy. The ambience of that place reminded me of my own experiences- Our school tour in 11^th to Hyd and during 12^th to Kodai and also the college tours to B’lore, Mysore and Ooty in 3^rd year and to Kerala in final. Every tour is unforgettable in its own way. I’ve visited all those places before with my family but then these tours with friends are totally different, aren’t they? It’s totally anew and a super-learning experience. You get to know your friends better. You get to know a lot about the people around you (previously you may think you know everything about them but then your experience in the tour may prove it diff!) I hope some of my friends will comprehend what I mean right! You also learn to adjust with a lot of things. It’s all good and fun! Sema experience !

And I miss them now! :(

I miss everything.. I miss school. I miss college. I miss being a student. I miss my friends. I miss those good times we had.

So I get back home at 10 or so and search for my photos DVD and have a look at all the pics clicked during my college tours. But I couldn’t get hold of the school tour snaps then as they are in some photo album in the cup-board. Now, I am going to have a look them to reminiscence those memories.:)

Its longtime since I blogged. Wanted to post about a lot of things. Fortnight back I even started typing out something but then couldn’t complete it and it’s just left ‘saved as draft’. Yet to be edited and posted. Lot of things left unsaid. Either there isn’t time or “D MOOD” is not there. Will resume blogging soon. For now have fun reading the part 2 of Subbu’s story.

Yesterday I got to learn from the news channels that Aarushi’s murder case is still left unsolved. None of the convicts are charge sheeted. The CBI is having a tough time as there is no clue, no material evidence that will stand the scrutiny of law against those convicts. They were showing pictures and videos of that 14 year old lil’ girl in those channels with that smile glued to her face. A lil’ pretty, dainty! My eyes were glistening.

How much of pain that child would have undergone when that 2 footed animal hurt her and killed her? The news reader says the case is still left unsolved just because of the lethargy of the UP police who were merely unconcerned about finding the evidence within the first 48 or 72 hours. Don’t know what made them to do something like that? Police being unconcerned or irresponsible???!!? The CBI only took up the case a month or so later and started the investigation anew. No material evidence now! The victim’s cellphone is missing and the murder weapon is unfound. What were the police doing in the first 72 hours without gathering prop evidence? Mere carelessness!

And now the convicts are getting bail since they are not charge sheeted!

CBI can file charge sheet only after probe is over and some evidence is found!

God help the CBI! I pray…

I wish and pray that the case is solved soon and that 2-footed animal whichever (I wont use who here! That’s used only for a human being!) hurt Aarushi is hanged to death sooner!
